Wagering requirements, done as a sum in pounds
“30 times” is not a mood. It is a multiplication. Once you write the sum in pounds, a lot of offers become easier to refuse.

Write the sum before you opt in
Wagering, sometimes called playthrough, is the amount you must stake before bonus-related winnings can be withdrawn. If the terms say 30 times the bonus, and the bonus is £25, the stake total is £750. That is not £750 of losses. It is £750 of bets, which can include wins and losses along the way. It is still a large amount of play relative to a £25 bonus.
Some terms multiply bonus plus deposit. A £25 deposit and a £25 bonus at 30 times both is £1,500 of stakes. Read which base the multiple uses. The words “bonus only” and “deposit plus bonus” are the whole difference.
Weighting changes the sum again
If slots count 100% and a table game counts 10%, a £10 table bet may contribute £1 toward the requirement. Live games are often excluded. A session on the “wrong” product can leave the requirement untouched while the balance falls.
That is why the bonus guide tells you to match the offer to the game you actually wanted.
Caps, clocks and stake limits
A maximum bet during wagering — often a few pounds per round — is there to stop a single stake clearing the requirement. Break it and the operator may void the bonus. The deadline matters just as much: unfinished wagering commonly expires the offer and the winnings tied to it.
These numbers are categories. The pounds and the days on your screen are the ones that bind. Nothing in this article is a current promotion.
| Piece | Example | Stake implied |
|---|---|---|
| Bonus only | £20 bonus, 25× | £500 of stakes |
| Deposit plus bonus | £20 + £20, 25× | £1,000 of stakes |
| Weighted game | 10% contribution | Ten times as much play on that game |
A finished requirement is not a profit
You can complete wagering and still have less than you deposited, because each round carries a house edge. You can also finish ahead. The requirement does not aim the result. It only gates the withdrawal of the promotional portion.
If the deadline is pushing you to stake faster than you planned, decline or cancel according to the rules, and read safer gambling before you chase the clock.
Frequently asked questions
Is 30 times always £30 of bets per £1 of bonus?
Only when the multiple applies to the bonus alone and the game counts in full. Weighting and “deposit plus bonus” both change the total.
Do my own deposits count if I never took a bonus?
Cash play without an offer is a different rule set. Some operators still ask that deposits are staked once before withdrawal, as an anti-fraud check. Read the cashier, not this example.
Where are the real numbers?
On the offer terms published by the operator at the moment you claim. This page only shows how to multiply.
